Those who got a seat in subway train

Some latest finger sketches of those who were sitting in the train. Please notice that many of them were actually resting. This is probably because I always do my sketches during my way to work in the early morning or back home at night. LOL

Finger Sketches - Men's Collection

I did not choose who I wanted to draw based on their sex. Normally I just look around and spotted the interesting person. These few days I tried to focus on men's posture. Men like putting their hands in pockets whereas their female counterpart seldom does this. Of course, this may be due to the design of men's clothes. Men's clothes usually have more pockets than women's and that is probably why ladies like carry a handbag. =D

Ladies using iPad

I spotted two ladies using iPads on the MRT train and finger drew both of them on my iPad. They were so attentive that did not even notice the person sitting in front of them was drawing about them. I tried different brushes for these two sketches. The one using fine ink pen looks a bit plain after sketching the lady. I decided to colour the lady and add more people into the picture.

Afternoon tea

I went to these two places to have afternoon tea recently. I always left my coffee and cookies on the side and started my finger drawing on my iPad. I do not usually erase what I drew although it is much easier to erase lines on iPad than on tradition paper. I tried to catch the best shape when I drew out each and every line.

Of course, as most photographers and artists do, I will think which orientation of my iPad I wish to use before drawing. Portrait or landscape? It is really depends on what I want to draw in my picture. Sometimes landscape serves better whereas sometimes portrait does!

Finger Sketches 1-July-2012

All sketches were done today. On my way back home, I finished five pieces within the distance of 7 stations! Amazing!

Money Money Money

Money changers are everywhere around the island. But some money changers will have a long queue due to the good rate they offer. Here is one located at Chinatown. It was really crowded when I was there. I used my finger to draft out the picture on my iPad when I was queuing. And the colouring and wording were done when I got back home.

After drawing the money changer, I thought it will be fun to draw a real money. I placed one piece of S$10 note on my table. And I really studied its every details and found there were indeed many things I have never noticed before though I am using it everyday.

For example, there is a few words under the number 10 and above 'ten dollars'. Do you remember what they are? I am sure you need to get a note to answer this question.

Finger Sketches - 4

After my dinner, I saw a guy was eating his mixed vegetable rice at the same table with me. I decided to sketch him. He was so busy eating that did not even notice the person sitting near to him was drawing him.

Please look at the sketch done at Novena station. It was done within 2 minutes. The difference of this sketch from other pieces is the angle. That lady was standing just next to me. Her right arm was right in front of me at that moment.

Finger Sketches - 3

It is really fun to sketch on the way to work or back home. I always choose someone not moving so much to sketch. And I tried my very best to complete the sketch before the person started moving.

My work is totally irrelevant to art and drawing. However I enjoy drawing on my way to work.

How about you? Are you just doing nothing other than playing with your phone throughout the whole journey?
