Finger Food 7 (Oriental Flavours - Samsui Ginger Chicken)

Samsui Ginger Chicken is the most popular dish in Soup Restaurant, a local Chinese food outlet in Singapore. This dish is a traditional Samsui dish consumed by the Samsui women in Chinatown, Singapore, when they just came to this island to survive in 19th Century. Nowadays, the dish is still prepared in the same traditional way. The whole chicken is steamed cooked for a pre-determined duration and temperature, thus maintaining its rich chicken aroma and taste. The art of consuming Samsui Ginger chicken is by dipping the chicken into ginger sauce and wrapping them with fresh lettuce. A small plate of roasted peanuts is usually provided by the restaurant as an appetizer.
